About Wat Thawikaraanan

Temple history
"Wat Thawikaraanan is a temple belonging to the Wat Rat Sangha of Mahanikaya sect. It is located in Khlong Nueng sub-district, Khlong Luang district, Pathum Thani province."
Wat Thawikaraanan is located in Khlong one Subdistrict, Khlong Luang District, Pathum Thani Province, or commonly known as the "Pink Temple" among locals. It is a popular tourist attraction in Pathum Thani due to its various merit-making areas, peaceful and shady atmosphere, parking space, and numerous sacred objects that provide spiritual inspiration. The temple's pink color is due to the severe flooding in 1991, which caused significant damage to the temple. Luang Pho Somsak Silasaro, the abbot at the time, decided to paint the temple pink. In 1996, during the hospitalization of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the ninth king of the Chakri dynasty, the whole country showed their love and loyalty by wearing pink clothing to wish him a speedy recovery. This event also contributed to the popularity of the pink color in Thailand. It is said that the pink color is believed to enhance the king's vitality and prolong his life. Therefore, Wat Thewa Karon has been entirely painted pink ever since.
